Makes: 12 scones
150 mL milk
150 mL cream
3 cups SR flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1 cup chopped dates
Preheat oven 200oC, brush flat pan with butter or oil.
Alternatively, use baking paper.
Combine milk, cream and egg in a small bowl; whisk.
In larger bowl combine flour, sugar, dates.
Add milk-cream-egg mix to large bowl, combine well.
Knead on bench lightly dusted with flour.
Flatten out to patty 2" thick.
Using scone cutter (or a small glass if you don't have one) cut into
Glaze each scone with milk before popping into oven.
Bake 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.
Place on wire rack to cool, cover with clean tea towell. Best enjoyed
hot and fresh!
